  • We asked for directions to this church while we were shopping in Ortega's weaving shop. It was on the same road, but they told us you have to be careful or you will miss it. You actually drive past it...  more »
  • You absolutely have to see this old old chapel! And what a great and informative complex around it. And be sure that you drive the High Road to see it. Very spiritual time spent here.
  • As you pull into the parking area you see the crosses carried by believers and then walk along the path beside a fence COVERED with rosaries, flowers and crosses. The quiet chapel is cool and invites ...  more »

  • I've experienced more than great Time's there. I feel more at peace there. Ever since my mom brought me here by passing thru going back to Missouri n California and back n forth. My mom was born in Bernanillo. I traveled there on Late December of 2012 to see my mom and spend our last Christmas together. As I headed to Missouri, I had to go out of my way to Santaurio and say some prayers and and display our picture's together. But, also for our safe travel as well. The weather was bad at the time but, as faith has it. Faith was with us on the whole way back. I have nothing but great thing's to say about Santaurio. I tell everyone about it here in Northern California. Take care and God bless you and us all
  • Some sites in America remind you where we came from, this is one of them. I personally look at the American Story as one of conquest and domination and this little outpost is one example. It is a sacred site and holds that 'energy' for sure but it's antiquity is a reminder of what institutions and structures shaped America. I've never sat for mass, and recall one priest telling me he served five parishes which would take a whole day if he drove from one to the next. As a pilgrimage site it has done miracles for many and so if you are so inclined grab a handful of sand and pray hard. You can likely buy some top notch chile from a vendor along the flanking street (or shall I say Camino).
  • This a wonderful very mystical and powerful sanctuary. Not a very well known place the santuatio is a small church which has served as a place of pilgrimage for generations. The art inside the church is incredible, and the holy dirt is a must have for every New Mexican.
  • Went from California to Santa Fe to Chimayo to visit the church my husband had visited as a child. Absolutely the most serene place to be. When we arrived, the weather was warm with a breeze, 15 minutes later we heard thunder, then rain. It didn't matter, the sun seemed to dry everything up within minutes. Amazing place to visit, go there at least once, in your lifetime, you won't regret it.
  • Beautiful, a must visit place every time I'm in new mexico. Sacred, and amazing bonding with the Lord!!
