  • Very educational, loved it! Loved the cave and amusement park. Better for small children and adults.
  • This is a beautiful cavern tucked away in a small Alabama town. The tour guide was friendly and informative. We arrived at 3:00 on a Tuesday afternoon and only one other family was in our tour group, ...  read more »
  • We went there primarily for visiting the cavern. The Park is very nice. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Amy gave us an excellent tour of the cavern.
  • The caves were amazing. It was much larger than I anticipated and our guide made it very interesting. The trip was well worth it, but I'm a bit uncomfortable with their religious proselytizing. After the tour, they sat us down for a light show in which passages of the Bible were spoken to us. Not sure if others would like that because I certainly didn't. All in all, it was fun and very interesting. I just wish they had skipped the religious aspect.
  • Just GO!!! If you're in for some old school adventure, this is great! Loved every minute of acting like a kid in the maze, panning for gold & laying on a bench so I could look up during the lazer show. Even though the action is mostly in front of the seating, watching the lights play off the back wall of the cavern was so beautiful!!
  • Desoto Caverns is named for Hernandez Desoto, the explorer who is believed to have first discovered the caves. Later, Benjamin Hawkins wrote to George Washington about the cavern. This penned Desoto Cavern as the first U.S. documented cave. During the American Civil War the cavern was used for production of gun powder. The history behind the cavern is as amazing as the naturally created architecture. Concluding the cave tour is a beautiful laser show. Caveat: The park is officially dedicated to the glory of God and all His creation. Therefore; the program is Genesis science centered, not secular science. If that's important to you. The park staff are extremely friendly. In addition to the cave there are other low end activities and "rides" for kids to enjoy. The rides are man powered. Examples: Rather than go karts the kids have pedal karts. The hamster wheel is rotated by hand rather than motor. There is also a life size maze and a water gun fight maze, a wall climb that traverses horizontal rather than vertical, archery with some very abused equipment, panning for gemstones, foam ball gun war, beach ball bounce room, small hamster style cave for kids to crawl through, power wheels track for the smaller kids and a few other things that we didn't have time to get to so they slip my mind what they are. The park was not very busy but was beautifully manicured and well tended to. They closed promptly at 5:00 p.m. RV campgrounds are available as well as picnic areas to accommodate large groups.
  • I loved it here as a kid and was ecstatic at the opportunity to share it with my kids. We learned a lot. We laughed a lot. And my son made friends with everyone in sight. Great family setting. It feels safe with my kids. And the Fudge! Love this place! We will be going again soon.
  • Everyone should visit Desoto Caverns! Desoto Caverns is fun for the entire family. The cave tour is phenomenal, and the activities are fun for kids of all ages as well as for teens. The gift shop is great, the staff super friendly. I really can't say enough good about this place. Take your entire family! My family will definitely be back.
