Along with the brewery's location, Grossman claims the company's name comes from his love of hiking in the mountains of the Sierra Nevada. With $50,000 in loans from friends and family, Grossman and Camusi rented a 3000sqft warehouse and pieced together discarded dairy equipment and scrapyard metal to create their brewing equipment. They later were able to acquire second-hand copper brewing kettles from Germany before moving to their larger, current brewing facility in 1989.Before you head to Chico, plan trip itinerary details with our user-friendly Chico trip generator, to make sure you see all that Chico has to offer, including Sierra Nevada Brewing Co..

Not a bad spot to eat. Good food. Halibut was good (especially since I'm from S.L.O. Town), though gotta admit the Narwhal wasn't very good. I'm more of a Guiness man, so truthfully the Narwhal wasn't on point fellas sorry. Just my opinion. But other then that. FOOD WAS GOOD.
I much prefer the service, atmosphere and food of 10 years ago - not the same brewery it used to be. After talking to several regulars, this seems to be the perspective of patrons ever since new management took over. Food quality and menu has really sunk. Used to be a favorite of mine but won't be coming back to the restaurant anytime soon. Probably shouldn't take 17 minutes to get a pitcher of beer at 3pm in the afternoon, or ever for that matter.
The restaurant is amazing, family friendly and this facility is one of a kind. I do wish they provided more menu options but what they do have is fully perfected. A local icon of Chico.
Sierra Nevada has the best beer. And I was very surprised by their prices. $3 for a glass of beer?! Can't beat that.
We did a brewery tour and loved learning about their brewing process and how they run their facility. They have a constant focus on being as sustainable as possible and continually working toward that goal, which adds an additional complexity to their process on top of generating a delicious glass of beer. I highly suggest any of their tours. We also enjoyed more of their beers and food at the restaurant next door, which were both very good. We sat in the outdoor area and the setting and service was on par.
