United Center, Chicago

4.4
#12 of 78 in Sightseeing in Chicago
Tourist Spot Arena / Stadium
The largest arena in the country based on its physical size, United Center serves as the home of two of Chicago's most-beloved sports franchises, the National Basketball Association Bulls and the National Hockey League Blackhawks. Take a picture with the Michael Jordan statue on the east side of the arena and with statues of various Blackhawks players around the perimeter of the 89,000 sq m (960,000 sq ft) complex. Beyond basketball and hockey games, the area hosts numerous special events, such as concerts, throughout the year. Be prepared to pay for parking and allow extra time to walk to the arena. If you want to take a cab after an event, try walking away from the complex to flag one down. Arrange to visit United Center and other attractions in Chicago using our Chicago trip itinerary maker.

Where to stay in Chicago

The Midwest's major center for business conventions, Chicago boasts many affordable places to stay, with most hotels located around the airport and the city's central business district. To discover the city from a comfortable base within walking distance of most tourist attractions, aim for one of the big chain hotels in the downtown area. If you're traveling on a limited budget and wish to get a deeper sense of Chicago's many diverse neighborhoods, consider staying away from the pricey city center and explore suburbs on a commuter train line for easy city access.

  • We went to watch the Bulls v Celtics in the playoffs - atmosphere was great despite the Bulls losing. Great, modern stadium. If you can, watching a game here is a must do.  more »
  • When I went to Chicago the reason was just one. To see two Bulls games. And I gotta say: Even if you don't like basktball it's a event that you must see.  more »
  • We attended a Bulls game as well as a Blackhawks game. Both were fantastic and the local fans are really behind their teams. We really enjoyed our visits.  more »

  • If you have ever been to a Bulls game or a Hockey game this review isn't for you. This review is for those of you who want to go to a game and have never been. When you are ready to enter please look at the line you are in. Sometimes the line can be shorter at other ends or moving faster. If you don't have anything that will be checked try and find a line with a person with nothing as well. Try and visit all floors you have access to so you can view the game from all aspects. Be kind to the usher and they will let you take a picture. Watch out for those that take their job too serious and won't let you do anything, avoid them at all cost cause they will call security and security will want to throw you out. I was at a game once and security wanted to throw me out after I took a picture in the 100 level section. The usher had given me permission to take the picture.
  • All hail the king, MJ that is. Nice stopping point to see the statue. We went on a Friday afternoon and it wasn't too busy. The hall it's located in is well air conditioned and a great resting place to take a break from walking in the sun.
  • Fun venue for Chicago sporting events. It's way too big though. Seats in sections 1 and 2 were half empty. Only section 3 was full and it's too far away to even see the game. Plus the vertigo factor. Wouldn't sit in those seats again.
  • This is a very nice arena with good lines of sight , I've watched concerts , sports always had a good time food & drinks are pricey but it's Chicago
  • Love this place. I just wish they would lower their food & beverage prices, it's ridiculous how expensive a bottle water is!
