Worthwhile to visit. Have intended to visit for years and finally went with art class friends to see the Monster Roster exhibit. Highly recommend a going. Learned about the Chicago artists during WWII... read more »

This museum is cool as hell. There's some unique art and it's situations right on U Chicago's campus in one of Chicago's most notable neighborhoods, Hyde Park. I went to a free charcoal figure drawing class there like a week ago, and they gave out free pizza.
This is a great little museum on the University of Chicago campus, and the best part: IT'S FREE!!! And seriously, for being a free museum, it has a great collection. They have work by Joseph Albers, Mark Rothko, Frank Lloyd Wright, and Louis Sullivan (just to name a few). They also have great temporary exhibitions that are always well curated, and they always have interesting things in their lobby. They have artists paint a huge wall in their lobby or create a site-specific installation, and they never fail to impress.
Very cool museums.
It's free but if you don't like modern art, it's probably not worth visiting.
