  • One of our major beaches in Chicago, along with Oak Street Beach. Always packed, and there are many activities from volleyball, stand-up paddle boarding, jet skiing, etc. For my friends that are unsur...  read more »

  • Worth a visit because view of Chicago including the Hancock bldg + nice sandy beach. From there, we can walk to oak street beach in 10 min and then continue on to the upscale neighborhood of Astor Street District to admire the architecture of the homes and mansions.

  • If you can get by here early on a week day it's quiet and not crowded. The weekends tend to be packed to the gills. The water is cold, which is great on a hot day. There are bike, paddle board and chair/umbrella rentals available. If you live near the 72 bus it takes you straight here so you don't have to worry about parking.
  • I used to love this beach but the quality has decreased over the years. Many times during the summer the beach is filthy and is one of the dirtier beaches in Chicago. The view of the city there is beautiful and if it is not a holiday the crowd is decent. During holidays it is best for families with children to avoid the area. I have seen massive fist fights break out near the beach house. It seems to an extent people from the suburbs come here trash the area, cause trouble, and leave. At night the view of the city is amazing and it is great to walk along the beach.
  • A beach in a city? YES PLEASE! Before you put on that screen screen, there's a few things to note: 1) North Avenue Beach is a beach more for summer activities and sun bathing. Even on a hot day, keep in mind Lake Michigan is COLD. This is not your Santa Monica beach. It's still the Midwest! 2) There's a fun boardwalk but it's always very crowded with bikers, runners, kids, etc. 3) The volleyball courts go fast, but if you can snag one, you'll bound for a great day!
  • The area is enjoyable with a decent view. Summer time is the best time to visit; though it's nice to visit for short walks or freash air.
  • Awesome views, really nice place to enjoy the beach and a sunny day! I've been there with my friends and it's a pleasant place to stay! There are also a few restrooms and some stores nearby to buy some snacks if needed.
