  • We went by bicycle from Navy Pier to this beach called Montrose Beach, we had lunch there and then took the return. It's a long way but it was worth it. Wide Beach and beautiful views. The way to arrive is beautiful, a marina, a mill, other beaches, parks, geese and ducks can be seen in the passage. All very beautiful!

  • Montrose beach is one of the less crowded beaches up North and not too far away from the much more crowded and densely populated beaches of North Ave and Oak Street. It has an outdoor restaurant and bar called The Dock which is good. It has a nice harbor to hang out in with the water warms up and is a cool spot to watch the Air and Water show usually.
  • Beautiful beach! Volleyball courts, clean sand, and the bird sanctuary next to it is wonderful. Does get very packed when it's hot out though, but a much nicer experience than North Ave.
  • I went to the Beach Saturday. One of my co workers hosted a barbecue here. I enjoyed the beach. It was clean. A lot of attractive people. I'll definitely be back this summer.
  • There's an area for the kid's to swim at the beach. Live band(s). Huge area to picnic around. Lots of Chicago police on bikes, four wheelers, and in their vehicles. On a busy day, look for Porta Potties in the paid parking lot for the bathroom wait times are LONG. Get there EARLY to grab a nice spot.
  • A hidden gem of a city park. With a vast sprawling beach with good facilities and rental options. The beach front restraint has great al fresco seating and often live music in the summertime.
