  • The ride between Chicago and Seattle was full of expectations regarding natural sceneries, compensating for the anticipated discomfort of the accommodation. The reality has proved to be not up to par. Without prejudice to the immensity of space, on the first day we observe a common countryside lush and verdant, with sunset on the Mississippi that, at these latitudes, has larger than any major European River; the second day the show is monotonous succession of endless flat extensions, uninhabited and flat as a billiard table. The mountains, for anything significant, they just get to the end and without a trace of glacier, hidden inside the park where the train doesn't arrive. We come to the transport. Train slack; cabin sleeping car of 4 sqm. bathroom included; the latter is a vertical cylinder with a diameter of one metre MRI style with shower and wc; sink in cabin as holsters for soup; staff willing, but cumbersome and not geared for tourism; Nice and comfortable lounge car for vision views, in which, at the end of the second day, a ranger explains the history and characteristics of Montana and Glacier National Park; bright dining car service, menus and cumbersome (especially for those who must pay the Bill); air conditioning was intense and not adjustable: should cover up, especially at night; in the cabin only a couple of handbags and luggage large downstairs in the space provided. My wife and I were the only foreign tourists, which allowed us to confront Americans of all ages from various parts of the country. I do not regret the experience, but I would repeat: the cost was outrageous.
