The cultural center of Chicago's Chinese community, Chicago Chinatown brings to life striking Chinese architecture and a diverse array of Asian-owned businesses. Much of the activity is centered around Chinatown Square, which boasts colorful shops and lively restaurants. Be sure to check out the Pui Tak Center Building, featuring green and red pagoda towers, as a fine example of traditional Chinese architecture. Ping Tom Memorial Park, inspired by classic Chinese walled gardens, offers a nice spot for a stroll. You can learn more about Chinese culture and history through some of the local artwork, including sculptures of zodiac animals and a mosaic depicting the story of Chinese immigration in the United States. Try some dim sum or a fresh fruit smoothie from one of the eateries.
