Cheyenne Depot Museum, Cheyenne
(4/5 based on 240+ reviews on the web)
The Cheyenne Union Pacific Railroad Depot Museum is located on the south side of 15th Street, at the intersection with Capitol Avenue. The Depot is located—naturally enough—alongside the still-active tracks of the Union Pacific, America’s first transcontinental railroad, in the heart of Cheyenne’s central business district. No longer used as a passenger facility, it sits on the northern side of the railroad’s mainline tracks, and forms the visual cornerstone for downtown Cheyenne. Located on the site of the first Cheyenne Depot, a wood frame building constructed in 1867, the Depot is one of the downtown’s two most significant landmarks. The Depot is prominently placement at one end of Capital Avenue, opposite the Wyoming State Capitol; Cheyenne’s other major historical landmark.

  • Even with my son's military discount, it cost $7 a head to enter. It wasn't bad, but most of the exhibits seemed a little worn and we didn't get to see the video at all. If you are looking for a way t...  more »
  • It's a gorgeous building on the square in downtown Cheyenne, WY. There's a park, & one of the finest places to enjoy prime rib anywhere a few steps away at The Albany.
  • Great historical museum, centering on the Union Pacific's story of crossing the continent, and Wyoming's part in it (including the shenanigans that went along with it). Very good interactive displays,...  more »

  • Great museum for the rail fan. HO narrow gauge model railroad from Golden, CO, past the Georgetown Loop.
  • Fantastic. Didn't know it was a railroad town. Great experience and learned a lot.
  • I have been to the museum and it was cool but I go to the depot on Fridays in the summer for free entertainment and beer. I went to the newly opened"accomplice bar and grill" and I was not impressed. The Albany is much better.
  • Amazing building, awesome museum, and a great model train display.
  • Great cardboard town next door!
