Commemorating more than 400 years of history, Henricus Historical Park re-creates everyday 17th-century life in the second successful English settlement in North America and in the Virginia Indian site of Arrohateck. Due to its prime location as a military outpost on a bluff overlooking the James River, the site also boasts rich Revolutionary War and Civil War history, which visitors may experience through special events and programs throughout the year.

Surrounded by the 810 acre Dutch Gap Conservation Area, the living history museum offers exceptional Pre-K-12 and adult education programs, and both indoor and outdoor meeting and special event space. Henricus Historical Park is a nonprofit 501(c) (3) organization that operates in partnership with the Henricus Foundation and the counties of Chesterfield and Henrico.

  • The park has done a very good job with the recreation of the fort and village. It is easy to place yourself in the place in the time, and as a history guide, very effective for conveying experience.
  • Awesome recreation of the original historic town. Great running trail around the park. Also has a cool little picnic area near the water. My family loves to spend the afternoon there.
  • Learn about the first settlers of the new world, this is a gem that tucked away from tourists. They don't market this place enough, but worth visiting. Don't forget to walk to the river and stroll along the banks. Tons of photo opportunities.
  • Great piece of history. People there wear wardrobes relative to the time period.
  • If you like historic places this is a must see. Great for photos and the staff is really friendly.
