  • We loved the wooden boardwalk over the stream...such a peaceful and serene place...the bamboo cove was a pleasant surprise, too. No ducks yet but we have seen them there before in the summer.  more »
  • I enjoyed the variety of ducks in this little park. It is very little. Dog walking is allowed in a very small area, as a FYI  more »
  • No one out but the ducks peacefully gliding along. Clear sparkling water made you want to wade out in it but the cool February air made you reconsider.  more »

  • Gorgeous Park by the waters of a very beautiful river. The water is only waist deep on most people even during the rainy seasons unless it floods, so it is usually quite safe. It is a calm river where the islands are situated. A large promontory island juts out in the the center that has a lush green river cane forest. Beautiful no matter what the weather is like. It is very relaxing being here, and it feels like you could just stay here and the hours melt away.
  • There's simply nothing that I don't like about Cherokee. My soul feels at home here and there's nowhere I'd rather be than with my husband and kids here forgetting about the city life. This park is nice and the duck feeding is So cool. It's also within walking distance of all nice downtown places. The bamboo forest is amazing!!!!
  • Nice little park we stopped at to eat lunch Park was nice but needed a little love Didn't care for the people that brought their dogs through the park even though signs are clearly posted that say NO DOGS ALLOWED
  • The Islands Park can't be beat! The water is shallow enough for younger children, the bamboo forest is neat to walk through and the parking and bathroom are convenient. It's a beautiful place and amazing to think about the history of the river and the land surrounding it. We are thankful to live near this beautiful area!
  • We go to oconaluftee park for fall. This has been our 3rd consecutive year. We love it
