Zoo / Aquarium Nature / Park
Chattanooga Zoo is a small but well-populated zoo with a mixture of exotic and local animals that are divided into six areas. Enter Gombe Forest to see chimpanzees and the African crowned crane. Move through to the Corcovado Jungle for a look at capybaras, jaguars, and the colorful macaws. In the Himalayan Passage, try to find the shy red panda, with its distinctive dark eyes and banded tail. In Walkin' the Tracks, you'll encounter North American animals, while Warner Park Ranch is a haven for domesticated animals. In the Deserts and Forests of the World, you can view meerkats and sloths. • The Chattanooga Zoo, to me, was excellent for its size. I don’t understand all the “not so positive” reviews. After all, you are not visiting the Atlanta, San Diego, or Bronx Zoos. It was clean, well ...  more »
  • Its not a big zoo but for the money is was very worth it. All of the exhibits are close together so there is not too much walking involved which was good because we went on the last day of our tip and...  more »
  • We went as part of a group today. We were last here almost 20 years ago...when they just started charging admission. I remember paying $1 and at that point; it was worth about that much. We came back ...  more »

  • I always enjoy visiting this zoo. The animals are fun to interact with and the walking path is nice and shaded in most spots. I have considered resuming the membership I once had there when my children were being homeschooled. This is a great interactive learning experience as well as a leisurely stroll. Also, don't forget to get your ticket for the carousel and possibly a camel ride!
  • This was ultimately a disappointing zoo to visit. It's very small and can easily be viewed entirely in just over an hour, maybe less. However, the price doesn't reflect the short experience. In some exhibits, the animals just didn't look happy. One coyote display had one of the wild dogs roaming around, panting so hard it was noticeably thirsty. Some highlights came from the various animals I don't recall really ever seeing in a zoo. The red pandas were very fun to watch, running about in their pen. The zoo is very accessible and simple to find for people visiting Chattanooga from out of town. The drastic downside just comes from the cost and extremely short experience. Most zoo visits take up quite a bit of a day. This one is short, but not overly sweet. Worth a visit if the price was cut to be better equal to the amount of time spent touring the zoo.
  • The Zoo was a lovely place. It isn't a huge Zoo, but the selection of animals is lovely. They have Camel Rides and a children's Zoo train if you being small kids. The price is good, and it was a great way to spend a few hours! Highly recommend it!
  • Being from the St. Louis, Missouri area and having one of the best zoos we are apprehensive about going to other zoos. The Chattanooga Zoo is small but very enjoyable. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They have great exhibits and adding on.
  • Both of my children had a great time seeing the the monkeys, red panda bears, cougars, & many more animals. It's very well organized & growing attractions! I'm excited to go back to see more.

Where to stay in Chattanooga

Centrally located Chattanooga hotels offer comfortable rooms just a walk from the city's best shops, restaurants, and museums. Staying in the middle of everything can cost a bundle, so if you're traveling on a budget or simply prefer a bed and breakfast atmosphere, consider staying farther away from the central part of townwhile on holiday. Most budget-friendly inns located along the free electric shuttle route servicing the downtown area offer all the comforts of home at the fraction of the price charged by the big chains.
