  • We hiked to the tower as we only drove through. However, great for camping and highly recommend for the fall season when the leaves are changing.
  • I took my 9 year old grandson here for a weekend camping trip. This is probably one of the best parks in Georgia. Spotless clean. Great campsites. Beautiful lake an DC beach. Highly recommended.
  • We enjoyed camping at this park in October while the leaves were still changing. The park is very pretty and has several hiking trails and a couple of mountain bike trails. We stayed in a tent while o...  read more »
  • This is a great place to visit. We only had a short time to drive around, but I've stayed in the cabins before and it was a wonderful experience. The lake is great for fishing and there are a number of trails around the park for hiking and for Mountain Biking. Be sure to make the trip up to the "fort" and restored lookout tower at the top of the mountain. There is a large playground for the kids near the lake. The roads up to the mountain are pretty twisty. RV's seem to be able to make the climb without problem as there are a bunch of them in the campground. Be sure to stop at one of the overlooks and take in the view.
  • Literally one of my favorite places to visit! They have very friendly rangers who are always around, willing to help. The most key point to Fort Mtn State Park is the history, both known, and unknown. From legends and lore that involve Gold, Silver, Rock, and Talc mines. All the way to the mysterious rock wall that possibly dates many thousands of years old. The park is beautiful and should be experienced at least once by everyone in the area!
  • I grew up in Ellijay, have risen parts of the trails as a kid and hiked the other trails. Absolutely fantastic views that you will never get tired of. Wild life is always fun to see. My wife and I love to walk the trails and got lucky today and saw a young mother bear and her three cubs.😀
  • Beautiful scenery! Best overlooks in this psrt of the state. Great amenities and camp ground. Many scenic trails and historic sites.
  • They don't get much better than this! We tent camped for two nights and could have stayed much longer, even with a 2 and 6 year old in tow. The beach and lake were clean and cool. There is a mini golf course on site and canoe and paddle boat rentals. The hiking trails are fun and we'll marked and the views from the summit are spectacular. The Rangers were extremely friendly and restrooms were spotless. Highly recommended!
