  • We visited the downtown mall area on a nice sunny afternoon. Plenty of parking in the garage. Nice shops and restaurants; although many were closed on Sunday. We also saw the freedom of speech wall.  more »

  • Overall a great place to spend your day. A large variety of restaurants and various places to shop. It would be a wonderful place to do some holiday shopping!
  • Another awesome thing about Charlottesville is our downtown pedestrian mall. Closed off to traffic, it's a safe place for all. Many great restaurants, cafes, antique stores, clothing stores, theaters (both movie and live), bars and night clubs, and of course our amphitheatre. In the summer months we have free live concerts every Friday night. It's a great place for families, singles, couples, groups and anyone looking for some really unique things to do. Something for everyone!
  • It's a fun place to go to and the perfect meet up spot. The biggest downer is that parking is overpriced and limited on the days/nights most people are out and about. I usually try going to the downtown mall during its "off" days and times. Good places to eat: Revolutionary Soup (great taste and reasonably priced), Miso Sweet (flavor is there but price is not), Citizen Burger (they're okay but pricey), Violet Crown (they do it all and it's all reasonably priced), and Marco and Luca's Dumplings (addicted to their dumplings, no lie). Good places for sweets: Kilwins (you pay a little more than you would at Sweet Frog or Chap's, but it's worth it), Splendora's (I would consume every drop of their product if they'd let me, they are so worth every dollar I have spent there), Chap's (cheap and tasty), and Sweet Frog (they're good, but I prefer Kilwins or Chap's). Coffee: Mudhouse (a little pricey for what you get and they're kind of slow), Violet Crown (great flavor and affordable, plus you don't have to buy a movie ticket to get a cup of coffee), and there's Shenandoah Joe on Preston Ave (sometime they're music is a little too loud, but other than that they're reasonably priced and have good flavor). Movies: Violet Crown (the only place I go to for movies now). Tea: Twisted Branch Tea Bazaar (it gets hot upstairs really quickly, but their tea selection is unbeatable and if you go with a small group it's worth it). Pokemon Go is also a popular thing there. Lots of Poke stuff.
  • Awesome spot for people traveling through town. Good food fun and activities
  • The downtown mall in Cville is essential to understanding local culture. It is an iconic main Street, and represents the kind of American culture and discourse we seek out as humans.
