Where to stay in Charlotte

To avoid driving or riding on public buses during your visit to Charlotte, book your room in or near the city center. You can find most of Charlotte's chain hotels in so-called "Uptown," the centrally located business district and hub of tourist action. Hotels near the airport provide good low-rate options for travelers on a limited budget. These spots offer rooms with access to major roads, allowing you to explore the region quickly and easily.

  • Food were good but floor and tables were dirty and grease every where... I went for a quick bite while waiting for my airplane.  more »
  • Not big mean, it's an airport you don't have to walk a lot in order to get your bags or rent a car. You'll find signs telling you were to go.  more »
  • Ever since I was a child, I have always liked to watch planes take off and land. It is nice to have a place to do so. Charlotte Douglass has got to be one of the easiest airports to get in and out of.  more »

  • You would love this place if you like to watch planes take off and land. Pretty good view and couple of benches to relax. Wish there was some shade as it can get really hot and sunny in summers. Shaded benches would have been better. A good pass times for kids.
  • A great place to take your family. There's always plenty of action with planes landing and taking off. You are very close to the runway too. Only drawback is there is no shade. It's kinda hidden and not advertised. It is free to go so we stop in every time we are in the area.
  • As close to the runway as you can get without Homeland Security hitting the panic button. Nice park with picnic tables, and benches to sit and watch the planes go by. Family friendly and popular with families with young kids. Only down side to visiting with young kids is NO RESTROOM OR PORTA-JONS. Being on airport property ensures regular patrols by police. I've been bringing my kids here regularly for past 5 years and never had any concerns about safety (with the exception of busy parking lot) lots of fun for children and big Kids alike. Tip--- the biggest airplanes land daily around 1:30 and again around 2:30. If you haven't been yet I highly reccommended.
  • Neat place to take kids for a picnic lunch or just to watch the planes. It wasn't as spectacular as I was expecting. Planes aren't always taking off or landing at the strip directly in front of the park. I assume it depends upon the wind which strips they use on a given day. All in all for a small child it is definitely worth going.
  • Great place to sit and watch the planes take off. Great view of the city too. Kind of hard to find.
