  • Very neat museum showing historical, ecological, economical, geographical perspectives. The original Hezekiah Alexander homestead is also on the property. Admission is typically $10/person. However, several nights throughout the year offer free events/admission. It's worth the trip. Good for adults and kids, alike.
  • Nice facility, surrounding landscape looked great, but the upstairs portion of the museum was nearly empty. I was present for a mostly exterior event so I'm unclear whether or not the museum usually has exhibits upstairs or not. The staff was nice and willing to ring the freedom bell on request.
  • A very inviting place. My family was given a personal tour of the museum by a person who described the rich heritage of the south in great detail. I recommend the place for anyone interested in learning about Charlotte and the surrounding area.
  • Not much to see other than the old house, which is not accessible, so we couldn't go in with our wheelchair. The museum has disorganized posters very briefly describing some aspects of life around Charlotte, but no artifacts or interesting pieces. We wasted $10 each.
  • This is a great place for learning about local Charlotte and Mecklenburg history. Wonderful diorama of how things were in the beginning. Nice gift shop too, but the crowning jewel is the Hezakiah Alexander home- a wonderfully restored 18th c structure! Watch for special programs offered frequently for adults and children.
