  • The park was gorgeous and walkable. There were signs and plaques along the way. The pineapple fountain is in this park and a great spot for a selfie.  more »

  • This is a gorgeous park to walk through. It's close to the heart of the downtown tourist area and right on the water. It's generally a little cooler here since you get a great sea breeze. If you have young ones (or are young of heart) they can run around in two water fountains located here. This park is always busy but always has ample seating.
  • The park is well maintained and there is a fountain your children can play in on a warm day. There are loads of benches at the waterfront but also in the shade under the trees. There's a dock which takes you a bit more into the water which will give you very nice photo opportunities.
  • It was so beautiful here. I was on vacation and we walked down the pier to checkout the views. They have swing on the pier which I thought was cool. Great view of the water and bridge.
  • Great accessibility and atmosphere. Wonderful place to spend an afternoon or go for a walk. Family friendly, and if the kids are too hot they can jump into the fountains to cool off! Only complaint is needs more restrooms.
  • Very scenic with nicely up kept lawns and gardens and the water nearby. Good for a stroll. There are two fountains - seemed to be that one was for kids to play in and the other was for aesthetics (the pineapple fountain). The deck/pier has cute porch-style swings so you can sir and look at the water.

Where to stay in Charleston

Charleston is serviced by dozens of local hotels and practically every major U.S. chain. Expect to pay top dollar for a room on the downtown peninsula, particularly if you wish to stay in one of the historic hotels. The upside of taking a room there is the proximity of all major attractions--you won't need a car to explore and enjoy your visit. Less expensive options are available in North Charleston, West Ashley, and Mount Pleasant, where you'll find all kinds of inns for the budget-conscious traveler.
