  • Just got a lovely guided tour of this Greek Revival styled Temple in the Charleston community, which was originally built as a Sephardic Synagogue. It is the third building on the site, but it is rich...  more »
  • This was a very interesting and informative tour. If you are interested in a community's culture and diversity this is for you.
  • This is a special place --the oldest continuous operating synagogue in the US. I recommend the gift shop, which has spectacular items, but even more attending a service in the gorgeous sanctuary.

  • Sam, Not for nothing, but you are a putz. Pay attention and don't be self centered. Attend Shabbos services.
  • One of the most beautifully restored synagogue's in the country and we are blessed to have it right here in our own town. It is often overlooked when people visit Charleston but if you have a chance, it is a great place to tour and see some remarkable preservation!
  • Me and my wife are visiting Charleston as a potential place we would like to retire Arrived 20 minutes late for last tour (Tours are at 1 and 2 and we thought there was also a 3:00 PM tour). Asked the lady at the gift shop if we could take a quick look at the sanctuary as we told her we were leaving tomorrow and would not be able to come back. She refused to let us view the sanctuary. If we do decide to move to Charleston or know of anyone else thinking about moving there we would warn them to stay clear of joinging this temple. Not one ounce of warmness or hospitality. Such a shame as we had a beautiful tour of the downtown Savannah temple a couple days ago. Sam Heiman Member, Board of Trustees United Hebrew Congregation St. Louis, Missouri
  • Really pretty very nice people
  • Very fun historic tour with a nice staff. They are very knowledgeable about the history of the building and the jewish community of charleston.
