Where to stay in Charleston

Charleston is serviced by dozens of local hotels and practically every major U.S. chain. Expect to pay top dollar for a room on the downtown peninsula, particularly if you wish to stay in one of the historic hotels. The upside of taking a room there is the proximity of all major attractions--you won't need a car to explore and enjoy your visit. Less expensive options are available in North Charleston, West Ashley, and Mount Pleasant, where you'll find all kinds of inns for the budget-conscious traveler.

  • This is the jewel of the historic home museums in Charleston. It's both beautiful and historically significant.
  • Our tour guide was very knowledgeable. Lots of interesting furniture and artifacts. Being able to see the slave buildings was sobering and interesting as well.
  • One of the better historical homes to visit in the Charleston area. Great pieces of furniture in the home. Nice gardens to explore before and after the tour.
  • Our guide was super knowledgeable and friendly, even helped me by pointing out some great camera shots within the home and garden!
  • Great house, friendly tour guide and a lovely town.
