  • This bridge is just beautiful! Nice smooth ride as well. We wanted to stop and take pictures. Too bad they don't have a viewing pull off.  more »

  • Beautiful bridge and awesome landmark for a beautiful historic city. Comically named after a self important jerk of a politician who helped secure funding for the bridge when building it was the only obvious option anyway. Should be named after any other deserving prominent historic figure or hero.
  • Great place to run and work out. Good views of the area.
  • It's a pretty bridge! Takes you over water effectively. Beautiful scenery, take the walking lane up.
  • Great place to walk, jog, or bike. Nice view.
  • Beautiful and well maintained walk but more could be done for safety of individuals.

Where to stay in Charleston

Charleston is serviced by dozens of local hotels and practically every major U.S. chain. Expect to pay top dollar for a room on the downtown peninsula, particularly if you wish to stay in one of the historic hotels. The upside of taking a room there is the proximity of all major attractions--you won't need a car to explore and enjoy your visit. Less expensive options are available in North Charleston, West Ashley, and Mount Pleasant, where you'll find all kinds of inns for the budget-conscious traveler.
