  • Cerrillos Hills was our second hiking spot of the day. I guess I read a little too much into my internet research beforehand, because we were expecting to see a lot (mining wise). We hiked two easy...  more »

  • This a little gem of a state park. The park's office have knowledgable employees and volunteers about the history of the area. The walks are short enough fo so-so hikers, but more ambitious ones...  more »

  • Cerrillos Hills is a quiet place that isn't far from Santa Fe by car. We ended our trip to Santa Fe here and it was quiet and peaceful. There were only two other people on the trail while we were there so it was quiet and uncrowded. It was the perfect way to end our trip before we had to head back home. The trail is well marked with signs that explain the mines that were there and they outline what was mine, when it was mines, and who mined it. There are also signs that explain the topography of the area out at a distance. Labeling all of the visible peaks you can see from the vantage point we were at. These signs were helpful in understanding the area and gave us an appreciation for the area.
  • Nice hike, but a little hot...not too much shade.
  • This is a great area to go hiking in. Just make sure to bring your water and enjoy the desert?
  • Great hiking trails, site of some of the country’s oldest & longest-producing turquoise mines. Favorite is the Escalante Trail, which leads to the Mirador Overlook with sweeping mountain views.
  • Great Spring, Fall and Winter hikes. Early morning or late evening Summer time. Vistas are fabulous.
