  • I went there with my daughter and was disappointed that the beachfront wasn't open. Although I don't know how long it's been closed, from the appearance of the signs announcing the closure my guess is that it's been closed for a very long time. Nevertheless, the planetarium show was interesting and the seats were very comfortable. I highly recommend the mansion tour as well. We had a picnic on the grounds (other than a couple of vending machines there's no place to get food on the premises), and it was lovely. It's my understanding that there are also Shakespeare plays acted out in the courtyard and that's definitely on my to do list.
  • Friendly and helpful staff. Did the tour to on different occasions. Better the guide better the tour. The part you can see yourself is good too. Grounds are large if you walk around the property.
  • Definitely a beautiful place, lots of history. Learned a lot about the country
  • Beautiful place to walk around or go to an event. Museum is a bit dated but still very interesting with collections of artifacts and (preserved) wildlife from around the world. Planetarium is also dated but fun in a "retro" way.
  • Out on a neighborhood walk and wanted to walk the grounds for 5 minutes, but wasn't allowed unless we paid $7 each. Not acceptable for a Suffolk county tax payer to be forbidden to walk into a Suffolk county park during open hours. We didn't want to enter the planetarium or park a car, just walk the grounds.
