  • Not worth the $$. Nothing special, basically doing a circle around the owners ranch on very slow horses for about 45 minutes. I've been on many wonderful horse trails in many parts of the world and th...  read more »
  • My family & I were vacationing in Illinois & visited Clear Creek Ranch. I was nervous to have our three daughters, ages 12, 9 & 7, ride for the first time but Paul, the ranch owner, gave clear instructions on how to "drive" the horses. He was very kind to us, even answering my many text messages with last minute questions before our arrival. The horses were very well trained and well behaved. The two guides (who walked the whole trail with us!), Abby & Trish, were very knowledgeable & helpful. They didn't get agitated at all when our youngest daughter shrieked a few times. They even took our cell phones to take pictures for us in the ride! The ride itself was laid back & we went at the perfect pace for daughters. This mom wasn't worried at all! This was an excellent experience & very well worth the time & money. I wish we had something like this in our area!
  • The horses are well cared for and extremely well behaved. The staff was very friendly and patient with those in our group who got cocky and nearly fell off their horse. They (staff) also remained calm and polite while confronting a trio of riders who tried to leave without paying. There is no running with these horses, due to safety concerns and the ride is slow, so it is relaxing and beautiful.
  • For such a great price, the ride was relaxing and absolutely beautiful. The horses are very well trained and the staff was very friendly and patient. People who complain about "no running" should realize that the owners keep this policy for safety reasons, and even walking the entire time, the ride is an appropriate length and a great option for spending an afternoon.
  • Cedar Creek Ranch was wonderful. My family and I went horse back riding and felt very welcomed by Paul W. who owns the ranch. He was friendly and helpful with us City folks trying to learn to ride on horses. My sons enjoyed their ride very much. I was very grateful that the horses seem well behaved and rode calmly. Also the bar and grill restaurant has a friendly staff and delicious burgers and waffle fries. Thank you for a wonderful day at your ranch!
  • They HAVE to specify it's a very slow, 30 min ride, and it's more for kids... They didn't let us run or even fast walk.. It's very slow, boring ride. If you have kids. Let the kids ride, and go to the bar next to it. It also specifies on their website it's over 5 miles ride, but the instructor told us 3 mikes, and we still doubt it was even that. There are a lot better places closer to Chicago, and the suburbs.
