My brother and I checked out the Falls on a nice September Day. I was here years ago and enjoyed it so I wanted to show the falls to him. They no longer let you go below the falls on the trail and..... more »

A spectacular waterfall not too far from Syracuse. The parking lot can fill up pretty quickly so it's best to arrive earlier in the day. The hike down to the bridge is short, but can be steep and wet in places so be sure to wear proper footwear. Definitely a great place to bring the family for a nice outing or for a picnic (shelter rentals available). Hours from sunrise to sunset.
We had a relaxing walk around the perimeter. Fences don't let you get too close which is a good thing because the drop offs are very high. Great views and the hike is relatively easy. Would recommend to anyone passing through. Great place to go to get out and take in some fresh air.
Great spot not too far from Syracuse for a family hike. It has a small quarter mile hike to see the falls from upper middle and lower. There are charcoal BBQ stations for a cookout and a couple of pavilion sites. It has a very small playground, only swings, monkey bars and a slide. The slide exits about 2.5-3 feet off the ground so be careful with the little ones. My 3yr old and 6yr old had a great afternoon with the climb and playground.
I can see this place being fun during the summer season. The waterfall is huge and looks refreshing during hot weather. The hike itself is pretty short. Just 15 to 20 minutes from the parking lot, therefore the trail is easy. It's a slope down on the left side of the fall. You can see the top of the fall near the parking lot. Just walk to the pedestrian bridge. The park is well maintained. This is definitely kid-friendly hike.
Literally been to hundreds of waterfalls (20 or so in the upstate NY area) and this one would rank pretty near the top. Good amount of flow even in later summer months and amazing profile. Kinda a shame the whole base area is closed, but it’s for the protection of an endangered species that literally only lives there so it’s not without good reason.
