Chittenango Falls State Park is a 194acre state park located in Madison County, New York, east of Cazenovia Lake. The park features a 167ft waterfall that cascades over roughly 400-million-year-old bedrock, flowing beneath a wooden bridge spanning the meandering Chittenango Creek. The park offers a variety of activities including picnic tables with pavilions, a playground, a nature trail, hiking, and fishing.Approximately 45,000 visitors come to the park each year to engage in a variety of outdoor recreational activities. Although many camping guides still mistakenly list it as a campground, the park's campground was closed in the mid-2000s.Chittenango Falls State Park is also home to the endemic and endangered Chittenango ovate amber snail (Novisuccinea chittenangoensis).Trails and scenic viewingWhile the park is open year-round, the trail leading to the falls' viewing bridge is closed during winter months due to icy conditions. Views of the falls are still quite picturesque from the top however, with the ability to view the falls from the side of the creek or from a small viewing rail. There is also a steep uphill trail allowing visitors to walk along the side of the lower creek to the top of the falls. Along that trail, there are several viewing spots.Put Chittenango Falls State Park at the forefront of your travel plans using our Cazenovia trip itinerary maker.

A very beautiful park. It's well kept and clean, with plenty of green space and benches. Trail down to the great falls. Definitely take a stop in just to see the falls.

Great hiking trails for nice, scenic views of the waterfalls. Trails loop around to each other at the bottom to allow the visitors to see all parts of Chittenango Falls. A few stairs tho, so make sure you pace yourself and take plenty of breaks to enjoy the nature around you! Longer trails located in the surrounding wooded areas in the park. Fun to hike, but no waterfall next to you.
Beautiful spot! 1.1 mi trail loop takes you down to the base of the falls and back up the other side. Easy hike, but lots of steps, many uneven. a couple of great vistas of the falls along the way. BBQing stations and a playground in the spacious park near the parking lot. $3 parking fee. "Closes" at sunset. Can't wait to come back in the winter!
The area is beautiful and the waterfall so peaceful. Definitely gets busy, but there are so many trails you should not have any issues getting around and finding a quiet place to relax and enjoy the outdoors.
Holy cow gorgeous waterfall! Good picnic areas. Wild blackcaps always a plus. The stairs are unmaintained and difficult to navigate.
The Falls is amazing, the park is clean and well kept, hiking trails are fun and we'll maintained, safe place. Great place for a picnic with the kids.
