  • This little place has a huge place in history. I had no idea that I would enjoy it so much. Our volunteer gave us a 30 minute tour explaining the entire history. He had originally jumped there in the ...  more »
  • We arrived without an appointment and got lucky. The guides make it voluntary. Our guide, John Doran, was himself for years Smokejumper and firefighter (in Oregon). He only asked us how much time we have :-) Then we've got a terrific and comprehensive guide. He said just about us. It described his own experiences. Also, as the Smokejumper and the community have managed to get the Museum. A really great Museum, not only for fans of Smokejumper.

  • We had a tour lead by Gary Buck, he was so fantastic! He gave us stories and answered all the questions our kids could ask! The museum is beautiful, thoughtful and very engaging. I really hope everyone has a chance to spend a chunk of time, we spent nearly 2 hours with 6 kids, fully engaged. There is so much to look at and read and touch. It's really great!
  • Really a unique opportunity. A great look back at history and the Illinois Valley Airport is a gem.
  • People were really nice, quite fun to work with
  • I visited my very great friend, David Gordon Laws at the Siskiyou Smoke Jumpers Museum at this airfield in Cave Junction Oregon. Wonderful restoration of this historic site by the men that were stationed here during their days as Smoke Jumpers! Incredible History of the this most dangerous work! I learned about the men and women that worked here, and their equipment and supplies. Their deployment and the sad day the base (Gobi) closed in 1981! Many thanks for the memories, I will cherish the hospitality of the people of Cave Junction Oregon! God bless them all! We live in Las Vegas! Dan and Young In Lee
