Building on the legacy of its founding family, the Wilson Museum uses its diverse collections and learning experiences to stimulate exploration of the natural history and cultures of the Penobscot Bay region and the world.

In addition to the museum itself, the campus includes the John Perkins House, a blacksmith shop, and other exhibit/demonstration buildings.

Free, with the exception of guided tours of the Perkins House which are $5 per person.

  • This was such an interesting place. A lot of history and artifact. Learned the origin of many Castine townspeople. Museum keeper was so nice to let us tour this museum.  more »

  • I dropped in this little museum while visiting Castine, expecting it to be somewhat pedestrian. To my surprise, the exhibits were most varied and entertaining. It is a real gem.  more »
  • Parents just returned from here. Fabulous! Better than the Native American Smithsonian Institute exhibit.
