Pikes Peak - America's Mountain, Cascade

Must see · Scenic Drive · Landmark
On the front range of the Rocky Mountains, Pikes Peak - America's Mountain stands as one of Colorado's 53 '14ers'--mountains rising more than 14,000 ft (4,300 m). Visitor centers are located at 9.7 km (6 mi), 19.3 km (12 mi), and the peak's summit. These offer information, gift shops, and restaurants. To get to the summit, travel by car or train. The attraction's highway is notable for its dangerous twists and turns, as well as its unpaved, winding ascent on the last push up to the peak--but experienced drivers will enjoy the challenge. Or consider a ride on the Manitou and Pikes Peak Railway, which takes you to the summit on a historical set of tracks. • AMAZING experience!! We had a fun packed vacation and this was at the top of our favorite list. The whole drive up and down was worth the trip from Illinois. If you're thinking about going.... Go Go.....  more »
  • Finish the center at the top before sending people up. The restroom facilities were porto toilets. When you take that many people up, you should have adequate facilities for them. I am a group...  more »
  • We took the drive up to Pike’s peak. It was $40 for our carload of 4 people. The road is well maintained and the views all the way up are beautiful. There are also numerous places to stop for picnic.....  more »
  • The most beautiful terrifying ride of my life. It's so beautiful and majestic
  • What a wonderful exciting trip to the top, I drove and it was definitely an adventure I didn't expect, very very scary but still fun. My heart was beating rapidly when we finally arrived. Air is thin at 14100 ft but take some time to regroup and the return was way simpler.
  • Beautiful drive with amazing scenic views. The staff is amazing and super helpful. Plans are for the summit project to be completed next year (May 2021) and shuttles are taking people from the 16 mile marker to summit. NO DOGS ALLOWED ON SHUTTLES. Ranger said that a small dog bit a persons finger almost off on a shuttle so, no fur babies till next year. The parking lot at the 16 mile marker was crazy and the holiday traffic was insanity.
  • Beautiful views! America's mountain. Then I decided to ride my bike off the top....
  • What an Adventure 🏞🤗 The drive up was beautiful & breathtaking. I nearly had anxiety on the way up but once we got to the peak, I forgot about how high up we were. I'm sure the view is unbelievably beautiful without all that smoke from the forest fires. We will definitely return again soon.
