You'll see Bottomless Pit, Giant Dome, Rock of Ages, and Painted Grotto. For quick access to the cave, enter the visitor center, which has elevators to the cave. • The name "Big Room" sets you up for something bigger, but it's still pretty beautiful. The Big Room is at the end of the hike, so by then you're pretty excited to have finally reached it.  more »
  • Huge cave amazing a must see place. Bathrooms and food at the bottom of this cave as well. Trails are long and beautiful. There is elevators but we choose to hike up and down. Steep and good workout. ...  more »

Where to stay in Carlsbad Caverns National Park

The only option for sleeping within Carlsbad Caverns National Park is to grab a free permit and pitch your own tent in the backcountry. You can, however, find a handful of places to stay in White's City, which sits at the park's entrance. Here you'll find campgrounds, a few economy hotels, a couple of dining establishments, and other entertainment options. About 40 km (25 mi) up the road, the small city of Carlsbad offers more choice for accommodations. Hotels here tend to show their age, but most are clean.
