Where to stay in Capitol Reef National Park

Capitol Reef National Park does not offer lodging beyond its campground, so many visitors opt to stay in the town of Torrey just to the west along Route 24. Economy motels, some of which are part of national chains and others of which are locally owned, dominate the list of options, but a few inns and bed and breakfasts are available too. Torrey has a couple of dining establishments, adding to the convenience of staying here. You'llĀ also find a few motels between the town and the park entrance.

  • We did the 2 mile round trip hike up to the Hickman Bridge which is located just a couple of miles past the visitor center at Capitol Reef. It was a nice hike and the Bridge itself was HUGE! When you ...  more »

  • It is not long distance. But, the trial is up and down. Great view!!! There is another small Arch on the right hand side of the trail. Don't miss it. It is fun. Great for photos!!
  • It looks so much unreal, more like a piece of painting, or a theater stage. The ground trail is more like cobblestones pavement. And, the terrain, bridge, and any other surrounding areas are so coordinating, with a strikingly vivid and natural color.
  • Great hike. Less than 2 miles round trip, with a big payoff at the arch. You can walk right underneath it.
  • Smaller hike, definitely a must do if in Capitol Reef.
  • Small hike well with the reward.
