  • Very easy to get to. 600 feet (up hill) from the parking lot. Lots of good pictures of faraway vistas, lots of colors, neat canyon walls with river below.  more »

  • Beautiful canyon views - steep & sheer cliffs, red rocks, and when the air is clear, incredible landscape views from the little bit of a rock climb / elevation change. Ever so slight, but makes a beautiful difference.
  • Great views down to the Sulphur creek. Definitely worth.
  • One of the first overlooks accessible when you enter Capital Reef from the Torrey side on route 24. A short drive and short walk for a great intro to the majesty and variety of this national park.
  • Great view of the local rock strata.
  • Short hike and amazing view.

Where to stay in Capitol Reef National Park

Capitol Reef National Park does not offer lodging beyond its campground, so many visitors opt to stay in the town of Torrey just to the west along Route 24. Economy motels, some of which are part of national chains and others of which are locally owned, dominate the list of options, but a few inns and bed and breakfasts are available too. Torrey has a couple of dining establishments, adding to the convenience of staying here. You'llĀ also find a few motels between the town and the park entrance.
