  • Great walking mall with quaint shops and good restaurants. Look for their sidewalk sales! Starting point for the Cap May Trolly and carriage rides.  more »
  • We have visited the Street several times over many years. It has changed a lot. However, it has always been a relaxing place for us, which may sound a bit "odd" for a shopping street (it is not a prop...  more »
  • I walked to the Church Our Lady of the Sea for Christmas services and it is one of the most beautifully decorated and quaint downtown's I had ever visited. It rivals Rhinebeck, NY for the Currier & Iv...  more »

  • The Washington street mall is a beautiful architectural setup. It's a warm cozy clean street mall with a plethora of shopping places. You can find food, clothes, items and many thinbgs to do here. I haven't seen a movie theatre here but it's a good place to hangout. The night time has a place well light with a beautiful park around. It's a pretty beautiful place. You can also get a horse carriage driven transport around here.
  • I'm usually not a city person but this area of Washington D.C. is impressive! Been here a few times and always enjoy all there is to do. I know so many talk of the Vietnam veterans memorial but I love the Korean War memorial. The oversized soldiers on patrol bring back memories and help me appreciate where they were. This is an area that all Americans should experience some time in their life.
  • Very cute place to spend a few hours. LOTS of shopping variety. Protected from cars. Ice cream shops, restaurants, beautiful church, carriage rides, trolley tours...LOTS to do & see. Plenty of shade and benches. Highly recommend.
  • What a beautiful little nook of stores, restaurants, & street vendors. There is shopping for all budgets and a great place for gifts. You could easily spend half a day (or more) just wandering in and out of shops, having a coffee or a meal, and exploring.
  • I love going to this place! It has such a nice vibe and feel. It's great if you are staying at a near by bed and breakfast and can walk here because parking is a nightmare. Even off season can be challenging. Parking used to be free here, now it's metered parking. I hate metered parking! The shops here are unique and the restaurants are good.

Where to stay in Cape May

Choosing where to stay on Cape May remains simple because most accommodations lie steps from Beach Avenue (which, as its name suggests, runs along the cape's stretch of sand). Even choosing your style of accommodation is uncomplicated--inns and bed and breakfasts situated inside Victorian houses encompass nearly the entire range of choices. You can opt for a cottage if you prefer self-service. Budget-wise you'll find the most options in the mid-range and higher end, but a few value-driven choices exist too. Book early if you plan to visit in summer.
