  • Some lighthouses have steep steps, but this one did not which made it easier to climb. Our kids even climbed to the top.  more »
  • Been here in the past and it was great! However, last time I went to visit with my grandchildren we were very disappointed that it was closed! Google said hours were open daily, etc. The lady in the s...  more »

  • If you don't mind a few (or 200!) steps, this is a great lighthouse. You can go all the way to the top and go outside for a great 360-degree view. There is a knowledgeable person at the top (and bottom) to answer any questions and offer interesting tidbits. There's lots of parking, and a concrete ship and bird sanctuary, so it's definitely worth the trip. We went in October so there was no waiting or lines; I don't know what it's like during the height of summer tourist season.
  • Our family enjoys climbing this lighthouse every year we visit Cape May. There is a breeze out on the observation deck but the views are breath taking. The museums nearby are also worth checking out. The guide at the top of the lighthouse always shares great tidbits of the history of the place. For example, the last time we were there he showed us the old "lightbulb" that was recently replaced with a new LED light. I love learning those little facts.
  • I have climbed this lighthouse every year for as long as could remember! There are 199 steps, so you better be prepared! There is an amazing 360° view at the top, and there is usually a very knowledgeable person up top that will tell you a lot! Highly recommend!
  • Number two on our tour was a great one, a real picture takers heaven. This 157 foot tall lighthouse had many things to do after you finished climbing to the top which was pretty cool, be warned its a lot of steps. The staff was super helpful and full of historical information. You could see for miles and it was a beautiful September day to enjoy our visit. Below you could take the large nature boardwalk through the natural aquatic & foliage of the area and there were lots of butterfly's flitting about. We walked out to the WWII Bunker 'Battery 223' and realized how vulnerable and exposed the USA was during that period in time.
  • one of the must visiting places in capemay. everyone must experience elevation and cool ocean breeze at the top of the light house. it is very well preserved and maintained. it was great knowing how lighthouse helps navigation by the volunteer guide.
