  • This s the largest history museum, I think in Texas. It has original western items; Charles Goodnight and Quanha Parker. The other areas are really fascinating. Plan at least 2 hours. Well worth it. A...  more »

  • I grew up visiting this museum, carried from exhibit to exhibit by my extremely patient father who, I now realize, enjoyed it as much as I did. My husband and I now bring our own children here when we visit my hometown, and again, my father carries them from exhibit to exhibit, reading and explaining to them. This museum has something for everyone--science in the form of the windmill, oil and gas, and dinosaur and early animal exhibits. There are social sciences in the form of the pioneer town, the WWI, and the automobile exhibits, not to mention well-curated collections of textiles, firearms, and other revolving displays. It is absolutely engaging for a child as young as 2, but also captivating for the adult who has been visiting this museum her whole life. There is a wealth of Texas Panhandle-relevant information here. It is a treasure and well worth a day trip if you're anywhere near.
  • Awesome place to visit. So many exhibits to see. If you are ever in Canyon Texas, do not leave without going to this museum. One night a year for 3 hours, which is in June, they turn out the lights and hold a "Night at the Museum". I have been going to this event for years. Never have been disappointed. The kids love this event because they get to bring their flashlights and tour through certain areas of the museum in the dark.
  • Wonderful place to being the kiddos and let them run wild while learning a few things. This place covers the Precambrian period all the way up to the cowboys and pioneer of the area. Price can't be beat and the AC feels good after going to the Palo duro canyon. Staff was friendly and kind.
  • Amazing place. Was worried price would not be worth it but price was so worth it plus more. Spent 3 hours walking around and still didn't see and read every thing. Feet got too tired which was huge bummer. Would go back for sure to spend more time and see more. A little bit for everyone. Dinosaur for son. Clothes and fashion for daughter. Art for mom. Guns guns guns for dad. Plus more must go see. Pass on the Cadillac rancg and the zoo and wonderland park. Save ur money for the museum.
  • A really interesting place to visit! Lots of Texas history and the history of change. Worth the stop!
