  • The views of the lake from the dam were gorgeous. We didn't make it for the sunset, but I'm sure that would be a beautiful place to watch the sunset. We also enjoyed the Guadalupe river trail the star...  read more »
  • Don't miss this beautiful lake view. Wear walking shoes and of it's summer, go early or late, to avoid the sun. Only a little shade available. Best of all, it's free...
  • Beautiful view, nice park. Benches to enjoy the scenery. .8 mile walk across the dam. Head down to the lake and go swimming.
  • Sch great views. The name says it all this is one of the best spots to overlook Canyon Lake and all it has too offer. You can even find family of deer and other wildlife. Best part there is a swimming area open to the public and free. Any trip to Canyon Lake should include a stop here.
  • I went out to Overlook Park to take some photos at sunset, but it was difficult to find a spot that wasn't blocked by trees. Your best bet is to walk over to the dam and take photos. That won't work at dusk since the sun will be right in your face, but it should work okay at dawn. It was really frustrating when the police came through to close up the park *just* as the light was getting good. Sunset was still about 15-20 minutes out at that time, so I understand the need to close up the park.
  • Great walking trail for TWO great vistas: one over the lake and the other over beautiful, green Hill Country...that is. was easy to enjoy with my elderly parents and my teen daughter who is blind, was perfect. I recommend also doing the lovely South Guadalupe River trail whose trailhead is on the east (green) side, downhill from dam, right there off South Access Road. Wooden bridges, down to the river, great sounds of nature, water, crazy musical insects...perfect.
  • Beautiful views. People were swimming at the edge of the dam...wish I had my bathing suit. Best view of Canyon Lake.
  • Great place to hike up and down the hill area. Lots of ares to fish or swim. Walking area across dam is 0.8 miles so great place to run or walk.
