  • Park closes at sunset. Just make sure you have timed it so you are walking back toward the car when the sun sets. The Sheriff came by and told us all we had ten minutes. After ten minutes he announced...  more »
  • Easy drive to the dam headquarters with picnic area, etc. The restrooms are filthy, so plan to leave the overlook area for facilities.  more »

  • So pretty! Great place to get access to the lake. We also walked the dam and really enjoyed it :)
  • Sch great views. The name says it all this is one of the best spots to overlook Canyon Lake and all it has too offer. You can even find family of deer and other wildlife. Best part there is a swimming area open to the public and free. Any trip to Canyon Lake should include a stop here.
  • I went out to Overlook Park to take some photos at sunset, but it was difficult to find a spot that wasn't blocked by trees. Your best bet is to walk over to the dam and take photos. That won't work at dusk since the sun will be right in your face, but it should work okay at dawn. It was really frustrating when the police came through to close up the park *just* as the light was getting good. Sunset was still about 15-20 minutes out at that time, so I understand the need to close up the park.
  • Beautiful views. People were swimming at the edge of the dam...wish I had my bathing suit. Best view of Canyon Lake.
  • Great place to hike up and down the hill area. Lots of ares to fish or swim. Walking area across dam is 0.8 miles so great place to run or walk.
