  • We enjoyed this hike over a beautiful warm winter afternoon. The total length if you do the WHOLE loop is 8.5 miles. There are markers to help keep you on track. It's super easy terrain with beautiful...  more »
  • Many of the reviews of Canyon Lake Park are confusing it with Overlook Park. Overlook is where the dam is on the southeast side of the lake. Canyon Lake Park is the little island/ peninsula with some ...  more »
  • Don't camp here if you don't want really PRIMITIVE camping. No showers or restrooms at this place. The views are great, but not the best place on the lake for campers.  more »

  • One of my favorite places to go for a walk when I lived in the area. Tends to be less busy than other parks I've been to in the area. There are quite a few birds here, particularly in the morning, but it can sometimes be difficult to see them because of the dense vegetation along much of the trail. Woodhouse's Scrub-Jay are quite common here, and while they're not abundant by any means, I've seen Rufous-crowned Sparrows more often here than anywhere else in San Antonio. I've also seen Golden-cheeked Warblers, though not as often as at nearby Friedrich Park.
  • It's a nice little hike. Not too crowded & a good place to bring the family to. It's around 2.4 miles, so getting around took approximately 37 minutes from start to finish.
  • Great park. It has about a 1.3 mile paved loop and about another .6 mile of hilly, rocky, trails. Usually not very crowded. Look carefully and you see turkeys, hogs and more!
  • Good for an afternoon hike or some trail running. Don't expect to spend more than an hour or 2 here though.
  • Beautiful place nice and cool private not too many people lots of family fun.
