The tasting room at The Winery at Holy Cross Abbey is in an Arts and Craftsmen cottage that was built by P. H. Troutman of Denver, Colorado, in 1911. The sweeping arches and post and beam structure are fabulous examples of this architecture. The winery produces 14 wines, 10 of which are complimentary to taste. Linens from Provence, pottery from Spain, Tunisia, Portugal and France, and a vast array of food, wine and travel books are just a sampling of the beautiful items sold in the tasting room.

  • Outdoor wine tasting was a different experience. The female sommelier was my favorite, very educated on the local wines.

  • Our family (all adults) had a great tasting here. The winery had an excellent assortment of wines, some that were a unique blend, and all very flavorful. Our favorites were the Merlot, Merlot...

  • The winery was fine, but the big bonus was that we were able to take a self-guided tour of the actual Abbey which is now being used as offices. Much of it has been preserved. The Chapel still...

  • We didn't make a reservation here, but were seated fairly quickly on the patio. We requested to do a wine tasting and although the lady that helped us was nice, it took over an hour to sample 12 wines. She brought out 3 bottles to sample at a time, but then went back inside for 15-20 minutes (to chat with her co-workers) before coming back outside with the next 3 tastings. That makes sense if you're poured a full glass of wine (for time to enjoy it), but it doesn't take 20 minutes to take 3 sips of wine! We were talking with the 2 guys at the table sitting next to us who were also wondering why they don't just do the tasting inside at the counter like most other wineries do - unless you request to sit outside? There was only 2 other customers there while we were. It's like we were all seated outside together on the chilly patio (intentionally) so that we wouldn't interrupt their conversation inside. My wife and I have done tastings at over 100 wineries, and it's never taken over an hour (to do a tasting) - even during peak hours. We generally do a tasting, then buy a bottle of our favorite wine (off the list) to sit and enjoy for awhile. Even though this was an unusual experience, we did enjoy the Colorado Divinity very much and purchased a few bottles to take with us. We just wouldn't recommend you going here if you're on a timeline or have other scheduled stops on your agenda for the day.
  • Stopped here on our way out of town after a day of hiking. So glad we drove by and saw the Abbey! The scenery is gorgeous, and so nice to sit on their patio and enjoy some wine. We each bought a few bottles, I bought one of the Norton and the Sav Blanc. I was seriously impressed with the Norton, I don’t enjoy red wine. The sweet wines were well done, I just don’t like sweet wine in general. The staff was so knowledgeable, recalling all the details of how each wine was made. They were also all very friendly and kind, really capping off a wonderful experience. Overall, will be stopping here on my next time in town!
  • Very nice atmosphere for outdoor wine tasting. A tasting fee of $8 to try 12 wines. Wines also sold by the glass. Good wines, great friendly service. I won't rate wines because it is such a personal taste thing. You should visit and try for yourself. A good vendor was on site during my visit serving pizza.
  • This place is great, but Becky the waitress makes the experience one worth having! Her knowledge of wine and your pallette to know what else you might or might not like is unreal! She was an absolute joy! An absolute 10 out of 10! Go and ask for Becky! **cash is REQUIRED FOR TIPPING, if you're doing a tasting you can not tip on your card**
  • So much fun! Such good wine! Great atmosphere, great people. A little hard to find but we got there. Tour the Abbey while you are there.
