Breathtaking views, impossible to capture without a panoramic camera. Highway wall engineering is impressive. Parking offroad is adequate.
Beautiful beach! Short hike from the parking lot along side a little creek flowing into the ocean. Watched locals surfing and saw a few Dungeness crabs and unfortunately a dead young humpback whale th... read more »
Gorgeous, easy hike through a beautiful old growth forest, leading to one of the nicest beaches I've seen on the West coast. The hike makes it a little less crowded than neighboring beaches, but it's easy enough that the post-knee-replacement grandparents in our family had no trouble with it. Great place to surf, fly a kite, build a sand castle, picnic, hike, and admire nature.
Parking right off highway 101. Nice little trails going from parking lot to the beach. Several small creeks enter the sea at the beach, providing some nice play spots for kids too young to get closer to the sea. Shady forest close to the beach for times when sun is too strong. Trails to cape falcon are littered with wild berry plants (salmonberry and thimbleberry). Less crowd than more popular spots like ecola.
This might be the BEST place to spend a day on the Oregon Coast. From the coastal rainforest with gigantic spruces to the beautiful beach, it's worth the 1/2 mile hike down from the highway. We saw plenty of wildlife! Sandy's is a popular spot for local surfers, so it's a fun spot to watch surfing too.
Wonderful trails through old growth Sitka. Incredible vistas off the points. And a magical beach to boot!

The trail to Cape Falcon is very nice and scenic, and Short Sand Beach is deinitely worth checking out. There haven't been a ton of people when I've gone, but I always go when it's raining so that's probably why.
