Where to stay in Cambridge

As the home of two renowned universities, Cambridge caters mainly to the families of current or prospective students. You can stay near the university campuses by booking your room at a student-oriented bed and breakfast or guesthouse, which offer simple, comfortable lodging for a fraction of the price charged by the big chains. If you don't mind paying more and wish to stay near the city's major cultural attractions, consider a hotel just across the Charles River from downtown Boston.

  • It was so fun to be in there. They have a lot of the old books I loved to read and a lot of new books as well. Lots of toys, trinkets, and educational material.
  • Awesome kids store. But bring your own bag! They charge $0.30 per bag. cray.
  • Located near Harvard university. Good place to pick up gifts for little ones.
  • Cool store, but the merchandise is really not at all different from what you can find at a Barnes and Noble or other stores. Pretty expensive, but given the theme and location, I was expecting that. Also, we went here for a scavenger hunt-type event, which was pretty lame and underwhelming (but free), especially considering the shop is SMALL and it was very crowded. Definitely worth stopping by, but nothing to be delighted about. Note: since it was so busy I did not interact with the staff other than quickly checking out, but everyone seemed helpful and friendly, even with the crowd they were handling.
  • Great collection of gifts for fans of Curious George, potential and new readers. Wide selection of other books of all sizes, shapes, age and level. All kinds of games and puzzles and a selection of clothes for little ones. Great location at Harvard Square. We were greeted by a very helpful young man who answered each and every question. He helped us in our selection. Unfortunately, the cashier refused to take an "old" hundred without the "stripe" because others had given them counterfeit bills. Luckily we had a "new" hundred but were given a torn twenty in our change ,haha. The cashier tried to unbend the bill but the edge had been cut off. Karma karma karma she gave us a good twenty dollar bill. ;-)
