  • The three day weekend was our anniversary gift to each other. It did not disappoint. Wonderfully friendly people, great accommodations. We stayed in a cabin - beautiful view of the water, and a hot tu...  read more »

  • Lots of nice trails. Nice beach. Try kayaking - good deal - less than $30.00 for an hour for a 2 man and they are nice and helpful at the docks.
  • Rustic but clean rooms. Could use some updating. Lodge is very confusing to navigate. Could use more signs and directions to help guests get from one part of lodge to another. Restaurant is expensive. Food quality is average to above average.
  • If you have DOGS - this is a PHENOMENAL camping destination. This is Ohio's largest state park. Plenty of hiking and you can do it all with your 4-legged friend(s). The bonus to Salt Lake is that it has a 1-acre play area (fenced in) where dogs can run off a leash. Our girls love to swim so we spent hours there to tire them out. A tired dog is a good dog haha. We look forward to going back. Highly recommend!!
  • We stayed here for 3 nights and absolutely enjoyed ourselves despite the best efforts of the front desk to ruin it. Rental boat people were amazing! Location was amazing! The food was pretty good at the lodge. Now the skinny. The front desk ladys were awful. Our wifi didnt work which made navigating a new area complicated. We called the front desk, they basically acted like I should already know how to fix it and gave me their customer service number so I could wait on hold for an hr while on vacation. In the end we left without that issue being resolved. Furthermore, we needed some more towels after the kids used our 4 alloted ones after enjoying the hot tub. The desk lady rolled her eyes at me and in a condescending tone said, "have a seat and Ill try and find someone to help you". I mean seriously? For 400 a night, they should have flown me plush towels wrapped in candies via drone.. I ended up dropping a hundo on new towels from the gift shop vs dealing with her. Lastly, housekeeping. Never seen sooo many spiders and ants in my life. I get it, its in the woods, but jeesh a little effort would be nice. I had remove the furnace filter because it was chocking the furnace. Looks like it may have been original for the 80s when the furnace was installed. I think we will stay again because we enjoyed our time together. I think this place is a little oversite and better management away from being perfect. Hopefully these problems get addressed because the property is definately one of the jewels of Ohio.
  • We just spent the weekend at Salt Fork. The sites are very spacious and it was very quiet at night. No loud music or party-goers. Shower house was decent with curtained stalls and hot water. The beach was huge and no litter. Our highlight of the trip (other than my fabulous cooking) was an afternoon on a pontoon rented from Sugartree Marina. Pricey, but had a great day on the lake with the family. You can’t put a price on “unplugging” for the weekend. Looking forward to going back sometime in the fall as I’m sure it’s beautiful there. Pros: Spacious lots. Quiet and relaxing. Large beach. Friendly staff. Cons: Wash house cleanliness… but I’ve seen worse.
  • Let me describe my experience as a compare and contrast with a MWCD campground. We have camped with boat several times at MWCD to include Tappan and Seneca. Tappan- you are on lot 403. Me- ok great where is that? TAPPAN- UP tHERE. ME- CAN YOU BE MORE SPECIFIC? TAPPAN JUST GO, IF YOU CANT FIND IT WE WILL HAVE A RANGER SHOW YOU. SALT FORK- YOU ARE ON LOT A22. ME- WHERE IS THAT? Salt FORK- let me get you a map and show you. Tappan-you cant leave your boat in the water and you can't park it in our lot hooked to your truck and you can't fit it on your campsite and you might find overflow parking down the road somewhere.a and if you can't follow my vague instructions I I'll call one of the 10 rangers patrolling the campground. Salt FORK- we have campers courtesy docks just down from the sites. I hope you can get the jist. Salt FORK- staff and amenities are so much nicer than MWCD. Unfortunately MWCD has catered to seasonal campers too long to appreciate usweekenders who like to see it all.
