Where to stay in Cambridge

As the home of two renowned universities, Cambridge caters mainly to the families of current or prospective students. You can stay near the university campuses by booking your room at a student-oriented bed and breakfast or guesthouse, which offer simple, comfortable lodging for a fraction of the price charged by the big chains. If you don't mind paying more and wish to stay near the city's major cultural attractions, consider a hotel just across the Charles River from downtown Boston.

  • This is a small museum that packs in a lot of exhibits - many are hands on. I can't imagine anyone having a disappointing visit here and expect that the negative reviews are written by students from other schools in a rivalry sort of way. My tween daughter and I visited here on July 6 afternoon and I had to pull her away from the place - she loved every bit of it. I was fascinated by the holograms and many of the intricately complex exhibits. We ended up spending an hour here - more than most sites we visited in Boston. This is included with the Boston Go Card and I highly recommend.
  • my basement is more interesting than this place. id rather wheel around a recycling bin and pick up trash. Its more art than robotics and science. After seeing this museum I wonder how MIT is the best college.
  • The MIT museum is a great place for learning. If you enjoy science, technology and engineering, as well as some art then this is the museum for you. It's a smaller museum but you can spend a good 2+ hours if time isn't an issue.
  • This place was great! It had quite a few unexpected things in it along with many things I expected to see (like robots). It's a great place for kids that are a little older.
  • Not a big museum but its packed with MIT achievements and their involvement in military advancements. Lots robots and rocket displays including one on high speed photography. Upstairs is an exhibit on MIT HACKING. There are a few hands on exhibits. The gift shop is downstairs. Admission for adults is $10 For parking, there is Two-hour metered parking nearby along Massachusetts Avenue and side streets. Public parking in the 55 Franklin Street Garage, two blocks from the museum and in the Le Méridien Hotel garage and Bishop Allen Drive, Central Square, both within close walking distance of the Museum.
