Vincent Arroyo Winery, Calistoga

(260+ reviews on the web)
Winery / Vineyard
Vincent Arroyo’s winemaking style is the embodiment of his philosophy about his land. Take what you have, and do the best you can with it. Each wine at the winery is hand-crafted, starting from before the grapes are harvested. Vince decides how the grapes from each vineyard will be vinified, when they will be picked, how they will be crushed, what fermentation regimes they will undergo (pumpovers, extended macerations, pressings), and finally, what percentage of French or American barrels, new or old barrels to maximize the optimum flavors of the wine during the barrel-aging process.

The wines produced at the Vincent Arroyo Winery have put a star on many Napa Valley maps as a place that shouldn’t be missed. His signature wine, still Petite Sirah, has become so popular that it often sells out before it is bottled every year. Once you have tasted the wines, you’ll know why. The winery also makes a Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Sangiovese, Zinfandel and several red blends.

  • We showed up without an appointment, but luckily due to inclement weather, they let us hang out and taste some wine. The gentlemen that were there, were very nice people. Our wine expert took us on a nice little tour, gave us a short history lesson about the vineyard and helped us understand the regions and types of wine. The wine itself was also very good. I really enjoyed the tempranillo and the cab, and the full bodied blend was wonderful. I'm very happy that I was able to experience this winery and would definitely recommend it to others.
  • The tour was great and the guide was very informative. Their wines- especially the sangiovese were great! The special touch was surely the vineyard pups Rosie and Bottega-the sweetest dogs and made us miss our own while we were there! We will visit again for sure!
  • It was my birthday so my husband threw me a surprise gateway in Napa on Sunday. He had previously booked a 12pm at Arroyo Vineyards in Calistoga. The drive through the different vineyards was beautiful. We parked in Calistoga downtown and walked to Vincent Arroyo Vineyards which was a lovely 30min walk. The turn to the Arroyo Vineyards was beautiful with long tall trees and the grape vines all over the place. It was lovely to see they had olive trees along with the grape vines. Our tasting guide for the day was Dave. He was such a warm soul and very knowledgeable about wine making and told us countless stories and tricks which were wonderful. He has started as a wine taster since 10 years old and travelled abroad at 14 to do proper wine tasting. Dave is hands on guy and you could tell how passionate he was about the wine making. The wine tasting itself was complimentary which was nice. While we were trying and sipping generous amounts of 8 different wines, Dave gave us a little tour around the property along with its history. The experience was very personal and very interactive which was nice. We ended up staying for 1.5 hours and the time just flew. We ended up buying their white wine which was so lovely and smooth but didn't pick up any of the reds actually. Wine definitely tastes better if you have some cheese with it to understand how it tastes with food so we weren't sure but our friends loved the petite shiraz which they picked u. Apart from the wine, we loved and bought their estate olive oil (true taste of green olives, just like olive oil in Italy) and their balsamic reduction. Really amazing, must buy the olive oil. Highly recommend this experience.
  • I was at the barrel tasting event. Perfect experienc with fabulous wine selection. Focused on red. I absolutely recommend their Entrada. Enjoy.
  • Dave the tasting room manager was so friendly..best we've ever had. Great wines...fun place. For real , non pretentious wine lovers...this place is a must!
