  • This grove of giant Sequoia trees is absolutely beautiful and worth the drive. You will be away from the crowds of Yosemite and mostly by yourself. The grove is located up a very windy road off of Hig...  read more »
  • After a long journey, we wanted a little nature enjoying and have opt for funds Grove. The not too long path through the forest gives a foretaste of the Yosemite NP. A visit is recommended at most

  • As Mariposa Grove was closed the works we asked the concierge at our hotel if there was another Sequoia grove we could visit and she suggested Nelder Grove. It was amazing - took half an hour to drive...  read more »
  • Nelder Grove is a quiet, uncrowded location to view giant sequoias. There several easy well maintained trails with markers corresponding to points in a free interpreted guide. 2016 through Spring 2017 Mariposa Grove in Yosemite is closed for restoration and Nelder Grove is the best spot to see sequoias in the Oakhurst area. Note the sequoias were partially logged in the early 20th century so you will see giant stumps as well as giant trees. Seeing both side-by-side is thought provoking and worthy of a special trip in its own right. Requires driving on several miles of unpaved roads- in exchange; no fees, no crowds, no gifts shops, no flush toilets- just cool moist old forest.
•, the bugs! OMG the bugs! The gnats are aggressive and in your face your ears your eyes! The meat bees...! Always around even without food out. We unfortunately decided to leave early the next morning we just couldnt cope with the bugs! Beautiful place tho. Not recommended for small cars but might work.
  • Its a great place, lots of trials near by also the bathrooms are clean and close to any camp site. We stayed by a little creek we had other families camping by, but they were quite and we still had our privacy. Only thing watch out for the yellow jacket wasp aka "meat bees" I got stung twice they're like fly's, so many!
  • This place is OK. But. But sequoia national park is way better. 😊
  • Great place. Use a 4 wheeler and watch the wasps in fall!
