  • The length of the runway to get here to exit the XXI th century to meet 150 years back. The city in a State of arrested decay, is worth the visit. Not many tourists here either in this mid-July. It is a very interesting visit (later in our holiday we also visited one of Calico. I preferred, and a lot of Bodie). It should not be easy to live here, whether in summer or in winter...

  • Beautiful ghost town, really neat and well kept. Too bad there arrived near closing time, deserves to be visited with calm for every last detail, definitely not to be missed!!

  • I was dreaming for several years already to go to Bodie. Finally in the United States, I decided to hit the road (and what road, 9miles road not covered, it sets the tone immediately) the city has been preserved, it is held in the State and not restored, important detail. Having made friends with one of the park rangers, I got a (spread over 2 days) detailed tour of places with anecdotes and legends behind every building. A timeless and exciting visit to a place that I highly recommend. Things to know: - the entry is $8, which is frankly not expensive to maintain places - have cash on you in off season - the road is in very bad condition, be prepared to roll the steps and on the part of the rangers, not their made not the joke "you should pay us to take this road," they did too heard - it is very cold in Bodie the wind can be icy and the snow is not rare, be prepared in function - if you really want to live the experience of ghost town, go in off season. I was there only during my 2 day visit, it's nicer! -If you have a dog, it will be accepted provided they are on a leash - it is forbidden to smoke on the premises, it is a very dry region and they do everything possible to ensure that a fire does not renew (1932, the city was destroyed 75%) - and is it you please, do not take anything with you, leave the scene as they are and do not try to enter homes if they are locked (more The rangers live in some)
