  • Lake Russell is an excellent area to visit. The State park is clean and they maintain the grounds very well. They have picnic shelters, campsites for tents or RVs, boat ramps, a marina, bathhouses, a ...  more »

  • Awesomely beautiful setting on gorgeous Lake Russell! Campsites super well-maintained! I hope to camp and fish there in the future. One MAJOR concern: I am visually impaired. Not so much an issue in daylight. I totally understand the desire to minimize "light pollution" when campers are desirous of sleep. However, the lanes to the campsites are totally unlined and unlighted. Strong suggestions: Paint the access lanes with a reflective center line. Even better... frequent, inclement weather, raised reflectors along the lanes. Despite a fair modicum of handicapped-accessible facilities and structures, the curbing was very, very difficult for me to distinguish at night. Just a good coating of a reflective paint on the curbing would have heightened my camping experience. As a result of the lack noted above, I, a normally independent person, had to impose upon others to escort me to the bath house after dark. (Felt compelled to advocate, not only for myself, but for all future, low-vision campers.)
  • Larger lake with boat slip rentals and a good walking trail. About 1 and 3/4 Mike's long. It was not overly strenuous. Good Crappie and Bass fishing.
  • Absolutely wonderful laid-back peaceful gorgeous place to camp one of my favorite campgrounds in the southeast. The people in the office and the campground host and Rangers are so friendly helpful and informative. And you really don't have to leave the campground if you don't want to because they have a store with everything you need from food drinks ice fishing Tackle fishing gear and faux and live bait. Some of the best campsites I've ever stayed on they also have their own Marina, a day area, a boat ramp and there restrooms include a place to do your laundry ( have your quarters ready) and a special sink just for you to do your dishes nice clean shower houses and restrooms.
  • Love it there. Beautiful State Park. Water is safe. And boats are allowed. One of the best state parks in South Carolina.
  • Beautiful park! Rangers are so helpful. Camp sites are great for a big rig.
