  • Low key, low cost. Bring your slow cooker and have lunch waiting. Obviously not Boyne, but thats OK.  more »
  • We had a great weekend at Caberfae. Despite the overall lack of snow and the warm Michigan winter, the skiing was great. The staff was very helpful and the food quite good for a ski resort.  more »

  • This place deserves 5 stars for sure. No, it doesn't have all the amenities as the big resorts but they don't charge you for them either. The skiing is arguably the best in the state and the price is on point. Best deals around. I like that it's not fancy. Sort of has a "Hot Tub Time Machine" vibe. I just hope I don't get drunk and wake up in 1987 next to my hot mom. That being said, I have no problem going back to 87, watching a Poison concert and waking up next to your hot mom.
  • Very professional instructors. The slopes are very challenging and the bunny hill is great for beginners. The lodge is nice and cozy and has a large fireplace to warm up by. The cafeteria food they offer could be better.
  • They have a great week day group rate that can't be beat. The 5 of us skied/snowboarded with rentals and helmet for $99.00 total. Best deal in Michigan IMPO. Great selection of runs from beginner to expert. The "lodge" where you can bring in your own food is the best family concept I've seen at a ski resort. Only 4 stars because of the 2.5 hour drive from Lansing :)
  • The front desk would tell me one thing and the lodge would do another. Told me my son could snowboard until 9. We ate at 750 and the slopes closed at 8. They charged me for a key we returned after checkout because we had to be out of room really early. Well he returned it after he was done skiing, like the front desk said he could. But, they still charged me. Food was bad too. But the other employees were nice.
  • Great skiing. We went on a Saturday, and lines were initially short, became much larger around lunchtime, and disappeared as the trails became more icy and overused. Rentals were straightforward, with an easy 20% discount from ordering online ahead of time, which incidentally makes the check-in process easier also. The black diamonds are more like blues, and the blues were more like greens. Not many hill features to jump off of, which I didn't mind. Some fun bumpy trips through the forest. The people there tend to be really nice. The food is kind of expensive, and it seems you can bring a picnic lunch or a crock pot and leave it in an inside "picnic" area and then eat it during a break from skiing. I didn't do this myself, as I hadn't heard of it, but it seems like a really nice way to do things, and it wouldn't be possible without a friendly atmosphere where you can leave your food out without worrying.
