  • I had heard about Canal Side but it was more than I expected. Beautiful area, funs things to do, many restaurants, military experience.
  • We visited Buffalo in order to see a Bills game, meet friends and visit Niagara Falls, and we stayed in Downtown Buffalo for one week. The city of Buffalo has seen more than its fair share of problems...  read more »
  • Amazing much to see, do, eat and drink. I did not think I would see our beautiful waterfront developed in my lifetime. I visit every chance I get. You can rent kayaks and bicycles, take any ...  read more »
  • Yeah. You all know it's amazing here. Usually not too crowded when I'm there except for the free concerts on Thursdays. Not a LOT to do there, but it's nice to have a place to go walk around a bit and show off a nice part of the city to out of towners.
  • Better than a Bass Pro for sure, but why are we not developing the the street-facing lots like the original plan called for? This is already great attraction but it can be better still!
  • This is the best place to be during the summer! Sooo many free events and activities to participate in. You can walk along the boardwalk or sit across the grass. There's a great restaurant and ice cream as well. Great for everyone of any age!
  • Buffalo has a code, all out-of-Towner's and suburbanites should know, get drunk, stupid, or innocent in Buffalo and the locals will correct it by stomping your head. Why don't the cameras down there catch these violent acts? Because Buffalo depends on the bully system. Stay out, act right, and even then, violence will erupt at canalside. I hate violence and refuse to go to canalside Buffalo because harm or death may fall upon my family. That's what they get for jacking the canalside name from Tonawandas. Built on current betrayal and historical, canalside is cursed alongside the waters where 200 years ago native blood was spewed with genocide. Canalside should only be attended by the physically fit, stiff chinned and cold hearted, ready to die.
  • Pretty good venue. I went to the Thursday night concert, and they had whte mats set up not too far from the stage for sitting and lounging around. Sound was pretty good for such a wide-open space. Traffic noise wasn't too big a problem from the expressway right overhead, but it did exist. There was a secure border between venue and non-venue, even though it was free. They did bag and pocket checks, and I was informed that bookbags would not be allowed starting next week (ie 7/14/2016). But in the rules, purses and handbags are explicitly allowed. Not too happy with that as a guy who likes to carry things out of my pocket (including things like frisbees and water bottles which can't fit in my pocket), but maybe I just need to get myself a purse! Outside food and drink was not allowed, which is always a major buzzkill, but there were food stands and trucks inside the perimeter. I figure that's just a cost of going to a free show. As a Rochester native, this was my first time at the park,. so I can only speak of the venue area for the Thursday night concert series. But I had a pretty good time. Lost major points for the backpack rules and oversecurity, but it's a nice place.
