  • If you have not been to the Gladys Porter Zoo, you need to go. We were part of a VIP tour which took us behind the scenes and we really enjoyed the experience. We were able to feed Galapagos Tortoises...  more »
  • We went to the zoo with my kids and it seemed very nice and care in comparison with others that we have visited. The input 11 adults, 8 children. We find very clean zoo and above all we liked to have water for animals in various areas giving more realism and preventing stagnate water in the cages. All the spaces we liked above all the Aquarium gives you a different feeling to see the birds near you, the serpentearía and above all very nice Aquarium touch stingrays, the only exception is the butterfly that you have to pay $1 extra and really not had many butterflies, counted butterflies. Near this area, there is an area for children where can climb, run and get wet. Within the zoo there are train who walks you 2 per adult and $1 per child. Friendly staff, drinking fountains and bathrooms everywhere. In general all very funny. We passed a 30 October and there are halloween event by 3.50 at night for children with many different positions kermes

  • I finally had the opportunity to visit this gem of a zoo. It's not add extravagant as large city zoos, but they have made nice habitats for the many lovely animals. You can tell that they truly care f...  more »

  • Gladys Porter Zoo is a world renown wildlife preserve! Because of its location it takes advantage of the natural subtropical climate that exists in the region. This climate makes it ideal for harboring the worlds exotic animals in open air exhibits! And for those of you that love exotic flora, the Gladys Porter Zoo is a contained botanical garden that showcases some of the worlds flora specimens as well as its fauna! Located in the heart of Brownsville, its stands as one of the city's iconic attraction! A Clear winner for the whole family! Certainly not to be missed if your in town! FunNote: Sit with Americas National Bird at the aviary and enjoy some ice cold beers to cool you off while you enjoy the magnificence of the American Bald Eagle.
  • I go there about twice a year and it seems every time I go over place looks a little bit more dilapidated than the previous but the place does run mostly on charitable contributions and well, that really is our fault isn't it. That aside, it really should be appreciated for being one of the best places to take your kids or, just yourself for a leisurely stroll. The animals always look well kept, well fed, and to a certain point - happy.
  • One of the better zoos I've ever been too...and one of the cheapest! Nice variety of animals and cool free-flight avian exhibit. We highly recommend.
  • I took a trip here and my car was robbed. Now the zoo itself was extremely a pleasure to be in. The amount of animals the zoo has are way more then the typical zoos I've been to in the past. Although many of the animals there were either sleeping eating or trying their hardest to stay out of sight it was still cool to see the them. I recommend this place for kids and adults although I would suggest parking in a place where people will have a eye on others doing things they aren't supposed to.
  • Harambe didnt deserve to be transported like an immigrant, he deserved to stay where he was once born and i am very disappointed that you did not fight for him to stay at your zoo as he would of fought to stay in your zoo if he was older . :(
