  • Hot as hell but really worth it the visitors centre has a very informative video and the ranger is full of good suggestions on where to hike and what to see. Enjoyed our walk along the boardwalks...

  • Things certainly have changed for the better since I rode through there last. Beautiful place.
  • The Sam D Hamilton Noxubee National Wildlife Refuge is a true treasure of Mississippi. One of the great natural resources we have within our state. The bald cypress and many other trees of the forest and swamp come alive during the months of late October and early November. Truly a spectacular place to visit anytime of the year Easily located just off of Highway 25 just south of Starkville Mississippi.
  • A beautiful place for beginner hikers, families, and all around nature lovers! My significant other and I came out here on a weekend to get our hike on. The trails are nice, though there were a few fallen trees we had to maneuver, and the employees are so wonderfully helpful and kind. We saw much wildlife and pretty insects along the way. Not to mention the various kinds of mushrooms along the trails! If you do decide to go, I suggest some bug spray, especially for chiggers. My s/o did get a nasty case of chigger bites, but oh, nature is nature!
  • Nice place for family time. It has also a fishing area, if you have license, then you can fishing. It is good for hangout.
  • I've seen at least 1 alligator every time I've gone. The refuge has a lot of nature to see and is fun for a slow morning or afternoon outdoors. They have started charging (day or yearly passes) due to federal budget cuts. Stop by the visitor center if you plan on parking your car in the refuge for any amount of time.
