Michigan Speedway is a great place to attend a race. We love to camp in Brooklyn Trails campground which is right across the street. Also a plus is they have cheaper and sometimes free tickets for kid... read more »
This venue always takes care of us no matter the situation. Rain or excessive heat in the same weekend, the staff is on top of the best course of action for the guests.
Seeing this track in person was quite a surprise; no wonder racing is so entertaining at MIS! We were very impressed with the efficiency that the trams were operated, even from a far parking lot like ... read more »
Worst experience at any race track. Never been there and won't go back. Drove from florida to be harassed, got to track early Sunday for the 400 because I don't know where I'm going. 09:00 stop ask a state cop for some direction to will call to pick up tickets. He does not know, OK he sends me in a general direction on my way to grandstand area I'm stopped by another state cop. Yelling at my wife and I to stop the truck now put in park and hands on dash.. told I'm I just looking for my tickets. Almost 500.00 dollors worth for 2 people by the way. Keeps us there for 40 min. They whole time treating us like criminals. Finally get to go there kids in parking lot tell us we have to drop our camper in a lot. OK we unhook camper. Go looking for tickets. These kids and cops send us to their administration building on turn 1 and 2 we were there 25 min. Before they tell us we have to go to will call for tickets. NO KIDDING, as I'm leaving building a lady in a red vest is yelling, is that your truck, you need a pass to park there where is your credentials.. I explain what's going on. She threatens to tow my truck. So I move truck back to camper. NOPE can't go that way. I have to leave my truck down by turn 1 take trolly to grandstand finally get my tickets at will call. Go into pit area paddock passes.. what a waste of money. There's nothing to do in there. Unless your v.i.p. tried to get to restaurant upstairs no can't do that. Tried to get to stage for driver intro nope can't do that. Need v.i.p. pass. What did I spend an extra 60 plus dollors each for? Now it's time for race to start. Our early morning arrival was wasted. Get to our seats which were great seats sec.13 row 29 seat 27 and 28 nice.. get there and there is the biggest man and women just behind us in top row. They man is wearing nothing but gym shorts. If I sit back in my seat I'm between his legs.. my head hitting his sweaty nasty belly. I'm sorry but one or both stunk so bad. We had to move. We go understands to regroup and then people sitting around us were down there also. We all had to move . So after the most boring race I think I've ever sat through. We go to the truck on the first turn. Can't get to the camper. I'm in a line, trying to drive through lots. Again stopped by state police I explain to them what happened that morning. To bad, to bad the cop says, he laughed and said well now your in line and all lanes are closed except to go out of town.. YOUR KIDDING ME.. i asked if i could just park and walk to camper and wait. NOPE cant everyone has to leave. We had to drive into a small intersection I believe rt. 127 and sit there for 3.5 hours for them to open a lane back to track so we could get our Camper. No cook out no drinks.we were so pissed off. It was after dark when we finally pulled out of track. Let me say that my wife and I are clean cut well dressed live a clean life style, drive a nice truck and camper. We were not drinking or drunk, doing drugs, or acting like an ass. No reasons to be treated like this from cops. Michigan state police that I dealt with were assholes.
In a state where NASCAR is not considered a real sport, I always feel right at home every time I am at Michigan International Speedway. Surrounded by thousands and thousands of Belo NASCAR fans. I consider Michigan International Speedway my home away from home. Every June and August it is always great being able to go back and B with my fellow NASCAR family.
Great place! Great people. It's a family vacation for our family. All the positive changes over the years has made it more family oriented and handicap accessible.
38th Season and the incredible job Team Curtis does is remarkable. One downside need better WiFi signal throughout the complex.
Hello, I attended the June 12, 2016 race this year. I have went a handful of times over the years. The first thing I noticed was the road was blocked off to the track (we were on the road out of Brooklyn) and we were directed to pull into a parking lot at that point and (purple) shuttled to the track. I liked it. My suggestion is to have MORE SHUTTLES especially at the END of the race when patrons are LEAVING THE TRACK at approximately the same time! We waited 45 minutes or so (in the Cedar Point type roped lines) compared to before the race when people are arriving at many more varied times and we didn't even wait 5 minutes for a shuttle. Secondly, there is NO shade. It is usually very, very hot on race days and the only places to get out of the sun is in one of the fan stores or under the stands. Cutting into the asphalt jungle and planting rows of shade trees would be beneficial and give it a more appealing atmosphere. And, I STRONGLY suggest more seating (chairs/benches) under the stands and on the outside of the gate! I need to sit down more often these days as my health has dictated. Plus, there is hardly anywhere to sit to enjoy any food I may purchase from a vendor/concession, to get out of the sun, to enjoy the atmosphere of a big stadium, or to get a rest from all the walking and walking from place to place. I am not ready to go up in the stands to sit until the drivers are starting to be announced (walking up all those steps is a massive effort!) On that note, a heads up on the loud speakers for the start of the proceedings BEFORE they happen would be great. Fans out milling around that want to see the pre-race festivities, inside the track, would have a chance to know when they want to head to their seats in the stands. Maybe starting 40 minutes before the pre-race announcements and every 10 minutes. I also heard many mentions of the dissatisfaction of the fan superstore shopping. The stores for each driver is awesome! People were commenting on how they liked the trailers for each driver better (although you had to stand in line and in the sun.) The stores so small, crowded, and had a lack of sufficient lighting. No one liked having to walk over to the "checkout." They want to just pick up their merchandise, pay, and go on their way. I hope you consider all these remarks to help improve fan satisfaction.
